Meet Dr. Shari Mednitsky:

Clinical Psychologist  for Healthcare Workers

Dr. Mednitsky is a licensed psychologist who specializes in mental health support for health care professionals. She earned her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Alliant International University, California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, where her research focused on stress management in high risk environments. Her work has been published on important topics such as grief survival strategies and the impact of depression on cognitive abilities and performance.

For the past 25 years, Dr. Mednitsky has been a trusted provider for hospital staff (physicians, nurses, allied health providers) throughout San Diego. Her previous employment at Scripps Mercy San Diego and Scripps Mercy Chula Vista, Palomar Medical Center and Sharp Mesa Vista Psychiatric Hospital has allowed her to see firsthand the unique challenges faced by those who dedicate themselves to caring for others, often at the expense of their well-being. Dr. Mednitsky recognizes that continuous self-sacrifice can lead to burnout and emotional exhaustion and is passionate about helping healthcare workers prioritize their own mental health.

Her therapeutic approach is client centered and incorporates a variety of effective techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic strategies and hypnosis. Dr. Mednitsky also offers psychological evaluations for medical leave, disability, pain management, workplace injuries and fitness for duty. Additionally, she has extensive experience as a clinical supervisor, consultant and trainer, providing education on managing depression, anxiety, psychiatric emergencies and early intervention for nurses struggling with substance abuse.

Dr. Mednitsky is an expert in CBT, interpersonal therapy and psychological testing, with additional training in Neural Desensitization and Integration therapy, somatic therapies and EMDR. Her compassionate, holistic approach is designed to help healthcare professionals regain balance and resilience.

Dr. Mednitsky is an active member of the California Psychological Association, the National Register of Health Care providers and serves on the Board of Directors for I Care for Nurses, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those in the healthcare community.
